## About Brigitte D'Ortschy (Koun-An Doru Chiko Roshi)

Brigitte D'Ortschy was born in 1921 in Berlin. She worked as an architect and was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1963 she left Germany for nearly 30 years of Zen training in Japan. She became a Zen master and Dharma successor of Hakuun Ryoko Yasutani Roshi and Yamada Ko-un Roshi in the Sanbo Kyodan lineage. From 1975 until her death in 1990, she led a Zendo in Munich-Gruenwald during the summer training period, training students from across Europe. She is recognized as the first German Zen master in the West.
